We received the news that our dear director Héctor Silva -International School of Cinema and television of San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba – was chosen for Talents Guadalajara. He had taken part in Cannes Cinéfondation with his short film “Anfibio”. We had just finished the postproduction – coloring/mastering – of his new short film “El Destetado” (An unweaned man).
He is now writing the script for a feature film.
“Talents Guadalajara” is celebrating its 10-year anniversary at the Guadalajara International Film Festival. It was launched in March 2009, when the FICG, in collaboration with the Berlinale Talents of the Berlin International Film Festival, presented its first edition-then called Talent Campus Guadalajara-, after a successful screening that took place in 2008, during the FICG23 presented as: Visionary campus.
Talents Guadalajara is an intensive meeting between actors, film critics, directors, cinematographers, sound designers, editors, screenwriters and producers from Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean that generates creative exchanges, improves the work of participants, and is weaves a network for aspiring filmmakers of the region to contact with experts from the World’s cinematographic industry. It is not only a cinematographic event, Talents Guadalajara has consolidated itself as the great creative summit where next generation actors, filmmakers and film critics meet, produce creative links, find inspiration and work on their own projects.
Talents Guadalajara also offers a range of international opportunities and collaboration, which are reinforced by the connection that exists with other Talents of the World: Talents Berlinale, Talents Beirut, Talents Buenos Aires, Talents Durban, Talents Sarajevo and Talents Tokyo.
Talents Guadalajara is not focused on undecided beginners to start a film career, but on promising actors, filmmakers and film critics – Outstanding film professionals who have demonstrated talent at their place of origin, through recognition and successful careers.
The cinematographic talent of our region is the main interest of Talents Guadalajara. We selected 50 of the most outstanding actors, film critics, directors, animation directors, cinematographers, sound designers, editors, screenwriters and producers to attend a nurturing film encounter where they interact with each other, with the experts invited to the FICG, with film marketing and with representatives of the industry attending the most solid film Festival of Latin America: 33rd Edition Guadalajara International Film Festival.
